Kawasaki K3V112DT Hydraulic Pump

The Kawasaki K3V112DT is a variable-displacement axial-piston hydraulic main pump with 112 cm³/rev maximum displacement. It is the most widely deployed main pump in the 20-ton class excavator segment globally, fitted as OEM to the Komatsu PC200-8, Hyundai R210, Sany SY215, and Doosan DH215 families.

Specifications

Displacement (max): 112 cm³/rev. Maximum operating pressure: 343 bar (4,975 psi). Rated speed: 2,100 rpm. Control: load-sensing variable displacement with electronic torque limiting. Pilot pressure: 30 ± 2 kgf/cm² at 70°C oil temperature. Casing pressure: typically below 1 kgf/cm² steady-state.

Internal architecture

The K3V112DT is a tandem-pump design — two axial-piston pump units driven by a single input shaft, each delivering up to 112 cm³/rev independently. The two pumps feed separate hydraulic circuits (typically boom + arm on one, swing + travel on the other) with cross-feed valving. Internal components: 9-piston rotary group, valve plate, swash plate with hydraulic tilting, regulator valve assembly.

Cross-brand compatibility

The K3V112DT is used as OEM on: Komatsu PC200-8 / PC200LC-8 / PC210-8, Hyundai R210LC-9 / R215VS, Sany SY215C / SY215C-9, Doosan DH215-7 / DX225LC. Parts (rotary group, valve plate, swash plate, regulator) are interchangeable across brands — this commonality is why the K3V112DT is the most-rebuilt hydraulic pump in African and Asian workshops.

Service life and rebuild

Typical service life to first rebuild: 7,000-10,000 hours under good filtration discipline. Rebuild cost: USD 5,800-7,200 in Kenya (Mantrac or independent workshop), USD 3,400-5,200 in China (OEM-trained workshop). Rebuild process includes ultrasonic cleaning, measurement of casing/shaft/rotary group against OEM tolerances, replacement of rotary group if out of tolerance, valve plate replacement if scored, all seals + bearings replacement, test-stand verification of flow rate and pilot pressure.

Diagnostic signals

Four signals indicate the pump is due: (1) pilot pressure 5+ kgf/cm² below specification at full operating temperature; (2) front shaft seal area wet at 70°C oil temperature; (3) hydraulic oil sample showing iron > 80 ppm, copper > 35 ppm, or aluminium > 15 ppm; (4) boom drift > 30 mm at bucket tip in 20 minutes at horizontal boom-arm position with engine off.
