Overview

2020 Cat 305E2 CR (compact radius) with just 1,800 hours, sourced from a Zhejiang landscaping contractor. The 305E2 is one of the most popular mini excavators globally — compact enough for tight access work but powerful enough for serious utility trenching and residential foundations. The CR variant has a reduced tail swing for working close to walls and obstacles.

02

Specifications highlights

Cat C2.4 Tier 4 Final engine, 0.16m³ standard bucket, 5.1-tonne operating weight, rubber tracks at approximately 80% remaining. Hydraulic thumb attachment ready. Reduced tail swing design for confined-space work. Original Cat paint and decals.

03

Working condition

Grade A. Engine has compression to factory spec, hydraulics cycle within published times, rubber tracks have minimal wear. Cabin glass intact, all controls functional, operator seat in good shape. The undercarriage is essentially fresh — common with low-hour mini units used for urban work.

04

Why choose this unit

The 5-tonne class is where Cat dominates the mini segment. Universal parts availability, simple maintenance, and the Cat resale value make this an excellent first-machine purchase or fleet addition. The CR variant is specifically valued in urban markets where space is at a premium.

05

Best for

Urban utility work, landscaping, residential construction, interior demolition, pipeline trenching in tight spaces. Strong markets: UAE (urban construction), Saudi Arabia (NEOM and Riyadh infrastructure), Singapore-region (transit projects), Mexico (urban contracting).

06

Shipping & documentation

Container shipping is ideal for this size — a 20-foot container fits this 5T mini with attachments. Transit: Lagos 30 days, Jakarta 17 days, Jebel Ali 25 days, Manzanillo 22 days. Container shipping cost typically $1,100-1,500.

Frequently asked

About this unit.

Does it fit in a 20-foot container?

Yes, the 5-tonne 305E2 CR fits inside a standard 20-foot container with the boom positioned correctly. We load and lash at our partner port facility. Container shipping is the most cost-effective option for mini-class machines.

Are rubber or steel tracks better for this class?

Rubber (factory standard on the 305E2) is correct for almost all uses — paved surfaces, urban work, landscaping. Steel tracks are available as an upgrade for hard-rock or demolition work but cost more and damage pavement.
