Why Tanzania imports the way it does.
Tanzania serves a dual role — domestic market with active mining (Geita and Bulyanhulu gold operations, Mwadui diamond, tanzanite gemstones) and infrastructure, AND as a transit hub for landlocked neighbors Zambia, DR Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, and Malawi.
Dar es Salaam is the only viable port for international imports. TBS Pre-shipment Verification из Conformity (PVoC) is required for most regulated imports. We coordinate this through SGS, Intertek, or Bureau Veritas at origin.
For transit cargo to landlocked neighbors, Dar es Salaam offers bonded transit facilities. TANCIS electronic customs system processes most clearances within 7-14 days with complete documentation.
