Can I share a 20-ft container with 1–2 mini excavators or 1 midi unit?
Yes — a 20-ft container fits 1–2 mini excavators (1–8 t) or one midi unit. Sharing a container lowers the per-unit freight when you buy two.
The container math
- Mini excavators (1–8 t) — 1–2 fit in a single 20-ft container, depending on exact dimensions and any attachments.
- Midi excavators (8–15 t) — one per 20-ft container.
- 20-ton and up — ship by flat-rack, container (for some models), or RoRo instead.
Why sharing matters
Ocean freight is charged per container, so two minis in one container split the freight in half per unit — the single biggest way to cut the landed cost of a small machine. If you're buying one mini, we can often pair it with another buyer's unit or quote the container rate as-is.
How many minis fit in a 40-ft container?
Generally double the 20-ft — up to four minis, though exact count depends on each machine's dimensions and whether attachments ship alongside.
Can a 20-ton fit in a container?
Some 20-ton models can ship in a high-cube container or flat-rack, but RoRo is often simpler and cheaper for tracked machines.
