What duties and taxes apply when importing a used excavator?

Duties and taxes are set by your destination country, not by us — they depend on the CIF value, HS code, and local rate. We provide the invoice value, HS code, and documents you need to calculate them accurately.

Who sets the duty

Import duty, VAT, and any local levies are set by your destination country and paid by the importer (you) at clearance. They are not part of the FOB or CIF price.

How it's typically calculated

  • Duty — a percentage of the CIF value (machine + freight + insurance), using the machine's HS code.
  • VAT / GST — applied on top of the CIF value plus duty, at the local rate.

What we provide

We give you the commercial invoice value, HS code, and shipping documents so your clearing agent can compute the exact duty for your port. We don't guess your country's rate — we hand you the inputs the calculation needs.

Related questions

Is duty included in CIF?

No — CIF ends at your destination port. Duty, VAT, and local taxes are additional and paid by the importer at clearance.

Can you estimate my duty?

We provide the invoice value and HS code, and can point you to your country's tariff schedule — your local clearing agent gives the final figure.

Does the HS code matter?

Yes — the correct HS code determines the duty rate and any exemptions. We supply the correct code for your machine.
