Market overview

Why Mexico imports the way it does.

Mexico is benefiting from the global nearshoring trend, with massive industrial park construction near the US border (Monterrey, Saltillo, Tijuana) driving demand. Mining (especially silver in Zacatecas, Sonora, Chihuahua) and PEMEX-related construction also drive heavy-class demand.

For Pacific-side destinations and northern Mexico, Manzanillo or Lazaro Cardenas are preferred. For Gulf-side and central Mexico, Veracruz or Altamira. Pacific ports generally offer shorter shipping times from China.

NOM (Norma Oficial Mexicana) emissions compliance may apply for newer machines, but used machinery generally falls outside strict enforcement. Spanish-language documentation appreciated. Customs clearance via VUCEM electronic system typically 7-14 days.
